Default Back up your Site via phpMyAdmin Correctly!

1. Go into your Cpanel for the site you want to backup.

2. Go to MySQL Databases

3. Go to phpmyadmin; this is located near the bottom and sometimes harder to see.

4. You can select Export here or choose a database in the frame on your left and then choose the Export tab.

5. Then from there, click "Select All" on the left side.

6. Then you click the following check boxes (leave the rest of the boxes alone if they arent on this list):

-Structure
---Add DROP TABLE / DROP VIEW
---Add IF NOT EXISTS

-Data
---Complete Inserts
---Save As File (right above and to the left of the file name)
---Use hexadecimal for binary fields

7. You have to enter a file name in that last box, like this:

__DB___4-7-2006.sql

8. Select gzipped for the most compressed file. If this causes errors, try zipped and if that causes errors, choose No compression.

9. Hit go!

There ya go, now you just made a backup that should work better than the forum ACP sql backup and the one you can download in BACKUPS (in the cpanel).

How to restore a Database using phpMyAdmin

1. Open phpMyAdmin

2. Select the database you wish to restore INTO, from the dropdown menu

3. Click on the "Import" tab (in older phpMyAdmin versions, you might have to click the "SQL" tab instead, to get the "Browse" button mentioned next)

4. Click on the Browse button, and select the file you downloaded when making the backup

5. Click Go
